Manaaki Ora Trust is a kaupapa Māori organisation that has grown from the aspirations of Te Arawa to ensure Māori are healthy, live well and are able to access the services and support that they need. It is a leading service provider utilising kaupapa Māori approaches for the well-being of all people.
The overarching objective of the Tipu Ora Group is “Tipu ora” – to grow wellbeing across the lifespan for people and whānau. Our kaupapa Māori approach strives for cultural and clinical excellence within all aspects of our operation and service delivery. Work in a well-supported Kaupapa Maori organisation who value and promote Māori Models of care, side by side with a multidisciplinary team of Clinical lead, experienced Social Workers and dedicated Kaitiaki to deliver the Well Child Tamariki Ora Enhanced Support Pilot.
We are looking to appoint two experienced Well Child Tamariki Ora nurses into our newly established Tiaki Whānau Team. Manaaki Ora – Tipu Ora are delivering this Ministry of Health funded pilot service – providing enhanced support for up to forty whanau with teenaged hapū māmā in the Rotorua area. This is great opportunity to use your clinical knowledge and insights to make your mark on the future of Well Child Tamariki Ora care. You will have the opportunity to continuously reflect on outcomes and contribute to the ongoing evaluation of this pilot service. This could be an opportunity for you to take an exciting new direction in your nursing career.
You will bring the following attributes:
Registered Nurse with Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Health Care Specialty (Well Child Tamariki Ora) (or working towards)
• Demonstrated competencies in nursing and ability to use a range of evidence based practices and health assessment tools when working with children and their whānau
• Hold an Authorised Vaccinator Certification or be willing to obtain
• Effective, appropriate written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge and understanding of the determinants of health inequities and its impact on pēpī/Tamariki and their whānau.
• Understanding of whānau, hapū, iwi and the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for Maori health.
• Knowledge and understanding of Te Reo Maori me ona Tikanga and the values of Whānaungatanga.
