At Tipu Ora we support māmā, pāpā and whānau in a way that feels right for you — grounded in kaupapa Māori, caring for and supporting you to maintain your hauora and wellbeing.
Our Tipu Ora Tiaki Whānau and Kahu Piringa services offer gentle, practical support through pregnancy and the early years of raising tamariki. Whether you’re a young māmā, a pāpā, or part of the wider whānau, you are welcome here.
Who is this service for?
- Tipu Ora Tiaki Whānau
Hapū māmā aged 19 or younger. Partners, whānau and support people welcome.
- Kahu Piringa
Hapū māmā aged 20 or older, with tamariki under 5 years old. Partners, whānau and support people welcome.
What we offer
- Visits where you feel most comfortable – at home, in our clinic, or another place that suits you
- A pāpā programme just for partners of māmā
- Help to connect with services – enrol with a midwife, hapū wānanga (antenatal classes), register with a doctor, immunisations, free dental treatment (criteria applies), education, income support
- Support you with other agencies you’re working with
- One-on-one or group sessions – whatever fits your needs
- Transport to medical appointments like midwife, doctor, scans, labs, or specialists
How does this service work?
Support begins during hapūtanga, with our Kaitiaki offering care that blends cultural wisdom and health care.
We focus on strengthening mothercraft and parenting skills, building positive and trusting relationships, and supporting every part of wellbeing forwhānau — physical, mental, emotional and social.
Care is delivered by experienced kaitiaki, child health nurses and social workers who live and breathe kaupapa Māori values. They bring care, compassion and practical support to help whānau thrive.
