Support Services

Want to quit smoking?

Manaaki Ora is here to support you on your journey to becoming smokefree.

We offer free tools, one-on-one support and encouragement to help you take that next step – at your pace, in a way that works for you. The most important thing? Regaining your hauora and doing it for you and your whānau.

We also offer incentives to help keep you motivated along the way!  You don’t have to do it alone – we’re here to awhi you every step of the way

  • If you live in Rotorua, Taupō, Tūrangi or Mangakino – this service is FREE and available to you. You can visit us at one of our offices, or we can come to you – at your home, your workplace, or even a public place that suits you best.

Stop smoking medicines and tools

Stop smoking medicines are a really effective way of supporting your quit journey. To get the best results, it’s important to know how to use them properly. Your Stop Smoking Practitioner can kōrero with you about your options and help you work out what will work best for you.

Free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)

We offer free patches, gum and lozenges and show you how to use them properly so they’re more effective.

Other medicines

If you’re thinking about using medications like Champix or Zyban, talk to your Stop Smoking Practitioner. These need to be prescribed by your GP, and we can help guide you through the options.

Vaping

If you’re thinking about using a vape to quit, we can offer advice and support. And yes – if you successfully quit using a vape, you’re still eligible for our incentive programme.

We work using a kaupapa Māori framework, placing whānau at the heart of everything we do. Everyone’s different, so we shape our support to suit you and your life.

We just ask one thing, we meet with you face-to-face to get you signed up and again after you are smokefree for four weeks, so you qualify for the incentives.

The rest is up to you – we can provide ongoing support face to face, group sessions, by phone or other platforms. We will also help you choose a Target Quit Date (TQD) that works for you.

Incentives

While the biggest reward is better health and hauora, we also want to celebrate your progress to becoming smokefree.
