Who can access this service?

We deliver our service throughout Rotorua, Taupō, Turangi and Mangakino. Anyone living in these areas can access the service for FREE. You can arrange to visit us at any of our offices or we can come to you at your home, workplace or even a public, convenient place of your choice.

How does it work?

Our service is delivered using a kaupapa Māori framework, placing the whānau at the centre and providing a holistic service. We aim to meet your needs, so the delivery of our service is very flexible. We just ask one thing, we visit you face-to-face to get you signed up and again after you are smokefree for four weeks so that you qualify for the incentives. The rest is up to you; we can provide ongoing support face to face, group sessions, by phone or other platforms, you choose how often you receive support and you choose when you want to stop. Our job is to provide you with the information, support and tools (such as medicines and strategies) to help you take control of your quitting journey.

Groups

Group sessions are a great way to embark on your smokefree journey by meeting like-minded people and growing your supports. We have a range of groups available to suit your individual needs.  Register now to book your spot on any of our groups.

Stop smoking medicines and tools

Stop smoking medicines are a highly effective way of supporting your quit attempt. It is important you also receive the right advice about the best way to use these products so you get the best experience. Please discuss medicines with your stop smoking practitioner so they can help you work out what the best option for you is.

Check out this 50-second video below on why stop smoking medicines are a better approach to take than quitting cold turkey.

Fully subsidies NRT

We can provide you with a range of free, fully subsidised NET options which include Patches, Gum and Lozenges and show you how to use the products.

Alternative NRT options

Nicorette products such as an inhalator and quick mist can be purchased from pharmacies and supermarkets. We provide a subsidy for priority groups to access these products. Please discuss your needs with your practitioner.

Prescribed medicines such as Champix and Zyban

These medications can be prescribed from your GP and are subsidised. It is important this information is used correctly so if you are thinking about getting prescribed medicine have a chat to your stop smoking practitioner about your options. Our service has access to a doctor who can prescribe Champix following a video consultation, which means no doctor fees!

Vaping

While we do not offer vaping as a form of stop smoking medicine we are able to provide you with a broad range of advice if you are thinking of using a vaping device to quit. If you quit using a vape you are still eligible for our incentive program.
