We offer New Zealand Certificate and Diploma level courses in Whānau Ora across Aotearoa.
Our PTE is a New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) accredited provider of high quality, reputable training.

WHĀNAU ORA

Whānau Ora ensures whānau are in control of the services they need to work together, build on their strengths and achieve their aspirations.  It recognises the collective strength and capability of whānau to achieve better outcomes in areas such as health, education, housing, employment and income levels.

 

Who are we?

Tipu Ora PTE is a Private Training Establishment within Manaaki Ora Trust.  We offer New Zealand Certificate and Diploma level courses in Whānau Ora across Aotearoa.

Our courses prepare kaimahi working with whānau in the community, (not only Whānau Ora Navigators, but all those working with whānau), with the best possible skills and knowledge to support whānau to achieve their aspirations.

Our courses are delivered in a wānanga setting, with assessments being completed online.

Pūkenga Mātauranga, who are highly qualified and respected in their field of expertise, present relevant, engaging information alongside passionate kaiako.  Tauira will be assessed with NZQA unit standards and modules using a variety of assessment methods.

 

Course Fees

Employees of DHB funded organisations may be eligible for a training grant for which the individual must make application directly through their local DHB.  Alternatively, tauira may be eligible for TEC efts funding through Tipu Ora PTE.  These are subject to criteria and availability.  For more information contact Tipu Ora PTE.

NZ CERTIFICATE IN WHĀNAU ORA

Level 4

The NZQA qualification consists of 60 credits and provides tauira with an understanding of how to support whānau effectively whilst looking through the lens of a Māori worldview. Tauira will learn about Te Tiriti o Waitangi, whānau diversity, Māori models of health, the human life cycle and traditional practices and Māori methods of communication.

Throughout the programme you will be required to use Google Classroom to complete activities and assessments from home.

Enrolment & Course Criteria

  • Minimum of 18 years of age and a NZ citizen (or citizen of Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent resident;
  • Access to the internet and a device (computer or tablet);
  • Basic computer skills as you will be required to access Google Classroom (prior knowledge of Google Classroom is not required)

NZ DIPLOMA IN WHĀNAU ORA

Level 5

​The NZ Diploma in Whānau Ora is delivered in ten 3-day wānanga (Wed-Fri) over 10 months.  The qualification consists of 120 credits and is an extension of the NZ Certificate  in Whānau Ora.  Through the lens of a Māori worldview tauira will explore tikanga and kawa of the marae, pūrākau, ko au, whāngai, whakamā, wairua and the future of Whānau Ora.

Throughout the programme you will be required to use Google Classroom to complete activities and assessments from home.

 

Enrolment & Course Criteria

  • NZ Certificate in Whānau Ora Level 4, or the National Certificate in Hauora Māori Level 4;
  • Successful pre-entry assessment if required;
  • Access to the internet and a device (computer or tablet);
  • Basic computer skills as you will be required to access Google Classroom (prior knowledge of Google Classroom is not required)
