Kia Puawai Hapū Māmā

Support to find a midwife, and connect with health and social services appropriate to your needs.

The focus of this program is to support you to have a healthy pregnancy that will ensure pēpi gets the best start in life.  Our team of Midwives, Registered Nurses and Kaitiaki will support you and your whānau through your special journey of hapūtanga (pregnancy).

 

Who is this service for?

  • Hapū māmā residing in Rotorua

 

What we can support with

  • To find a midwife
  • Access to other community services – hapū wananga, antenatal classes, free dental treatment (criteria applies)
  • Transport to medical appointments – midwife, doctor, scan, lab, specialist (criteria applies)
  • If you have tamariki aged 0-5 years we can support you to complete immunisations, register with a doctor, dental service or Well Child Tamariki Ora provider
  • Partners, whānau and support people welcome

Kia Puawai Start Well

Mothercraft/hands-on practical support to care for pēpi.

We know how special it is to be a parent for the first time and we understand it isn’t always easy. We are here to support you to care for your pēpi and parent confidently. The first relationship for a pēpi is the cornerstone to future long-term wellbeing. This service is aimed at developing healthy attachment and bonding between pēpi and parents/caregivers during hapūtanga and when baby arrives.

    

Who is this service for?

First time māmā, whānau having multiple birth, hapū māmā (support to prepare for when baby arrives) or baby less than 12 months of age, residing in Rotorua

 

What we can support with

  • We offer hands on practical support with bathing, settling pēpi, reading baby’s cues, and feeding, safe sleep and sleep routines
  • We will support you as often and for as long as you need
  • We work alongside your midwife during hapūtanga and your Well Child Tamariki Ora nurse when baby arrives
  • Provide transport to medical appointments such as midwife, doctor, scan, lab or specialist
  • Partners, whānau and support people welcome

Smokefree support for hapū māmā

Our Manaaki Ora Smokefree Support Service have a hapū māmā incentive program to support hapū māmā and their whānau to become smokefree. This includes up to $300 in vouchers. Visit our Smokefree Support Service page for more information.
